Suggested Sequences for Teaching

Two recent presentations set out some possible teaching sequences for the key skills needed by Biscriptal Learners of English. These cover:


1. Phonemic Awareness and Phonics, and

2. Handwriting and Morphological Awareness/Vocabulary Development


Both are based on these two conceptual models:

BICS = Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills

CALP = Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency
